Hayfield Primary School hosted their second annual "Fun on the Fells" race at the school's Summer BBQ. The sun was shining and both the BBQ and race had a good turn out. 49 race entrants set off at 7pm to run the 5k race over Lantern Pike; 10 of these were junior runners. A new male senior record was set by winner Robert Little whose time was 20.56 taking the record from last years winner Daniel Chan (21.41). The senior women's 2013 record held by Claire Parker remained at 28.07, however, it was closely contested by women's race winner Sarah Craig coming in at 28.19. Money was being raised at the event for the charity HEADWAY (a charity who support those suffering from brain injuries and their families), a local band "THE STEREOTECHS" from Tintwhistle, Glossop played brilliantly all evening giving their time for free in support of the charity; £450 was raised on the night for HEADWAY - thank you to the band, all who came, supported, ran and donated!
