Groovy Kinder Love - Sat, 16 Sep - the final local race
of the year and it's a tough one. Sadly, I had to sit this one
out but 74 didn't as you'll see in the
results. Thanks to Pat and all of his helpers for putting
this on again. Pat has written a race report
here.
Cracken Edge FR - Wed, 2 Aug - Squelchy! Many thanks to
Kinder MRT for putting this race on again. Here are the
results.
Kinder Trog - Sun, 25 Jun - a hot and sunny start for
this race and very firm under-foot. Joe Oldfield was first back,
taking 4 minutes off the record for this version of the
Trog. Emily Sanders was first lady - well done to both of
them. Thanks to organiser Tim, all of his helpers and marshals
and to Kinder MRT up on the hill and Hayfield Scouts. The
thunderstorm which was predicted for 2pm arrived around 3 hours
late so everyone was back by then. Here are the
results - thanks to Ann Siepp for these.
Races in 2023 - here are some notes about entering these
local races. There are more details in the FRA links in each note
and further down this page...
National Trust - Peak District Appeal - many of the local
races cross land maintained by the National Trust and we race
there with their permission. You may wish to consider donating
to the
Peak
District Appeal to support their work in this area.

LOCAL RACE DIARY - 2023
The list below shows races which are held within a 10 mile (-ish)
radius of Hayfield. Most of these are fell races which are listed in
the Fell Runners Association fixture list. Join the FRA for more
details of these races or visit the
FRA
web site for race updates. Some of the longer races are organised by
the Long Distance Walking Association (LDWA) principally for walkers
but runners are welcome at the races listed here. Visit the
LDWA web site for more details.
I attempt to keep this list correct and up to date but if you spot an
error or know of a race I have omitted please let
me know.
LINKS
-
Hayfield - if you can avoid being mown down by fell runners
charging about all over the place it's actually not a bad place
to live...
- FRA - the Fell
Runners Association is the governing body for fell running in
England. Individual membership costs around £16 per year and
amongst the many good reasons for joining are the Fellrunner
magazine which is sent to members three times per year and the
annual fixture list which provides details of around 500 fell
races throughout the UK.
Here is a downloadable copy of the standard
FRA entry form.
- LDWA - the Long Distance
Walking Association organises walks of various distances up to 100
miles. Many of these walks allow runners to take part and they
make excellent training runs, quite often with tea and
biscuits en route.
- Bullock Smithy Hike -
if you find yourself at the finish of the Kinder Trog thinking
"that wasn't too bad - maybe I'll run round a couple more
times" then it may be that the Bullock Smithy is your sort of race
(and it has an excellent
results site!)
- Kinder Mountain Rescue -
there's a good chance that these chaps will come to your
assistance should you find yourself in difficulty while running on
the hills around Hayfield.
ABOUT THE RESULTS PAGES
- Index
-
All of the race results are listed on an index page. From there you
can click on a race to see the results for that race. Click here for
the INDEX
- Sorting
-
On each results page (and also on the index page) you can click on the
column headings to redisplay the page sorted on the column. For
example, clicking on the Cat link will show relative placings
in each age category. You can also use the SORT M/F link to
display male and female results separately. Sorting by Pos or
Time will show the results in their usual form.
- Searching
-
The names of the runners on the results pages are also links which you
can click to display that person's results for all the races on this
site. Where there are more runners with the same surname you will find
another link which will list results for all runners with that
surname.
- Printing
